Memphis Bar Association Announces 2008 Officers & Board, Honors Its Own
(Dec 6 – Memphis TN) The Memphis Bar Association hosted its Annual Meeting with speaker Geoff Calkins on Thursday, December 6 at The Peabody Hotel. At the event, Amy Amundsen of Rice, Amundsen, and Caperton, PLLC officially took reign as the 2008 MBA President. Arthur Quinn of The Bogatin Law Firm, PLC, and Ricky E. Wilkins of the Law Offices of Ricky E. Wilkins automatically succeed to the positions of Vice President and Treasurer, respectively. John Cannon of Shuttleworth Williams, PLLC was announced as the 2008 Secretary.
New board members of the MBA Board of Directors include Sam Blaiss, Esq.; Louis Britt of Ford & Harrison, LLP; Laurie Christensen of Baptist Health Care Corporation; Bobby Martin of Godwin Morris Laurenzi & Bloomfield, P.C.; Amy Pepke of Butler Snow; Kevin Walsh of Harris Shelton Hanover Walsh, PLLC; Buck Wellford of Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC; and Monica Wharton of Glankler Brown, PLLC.
Board members returning next year include Allen Blair of Harris Shelton Hanover Walsh, PLLC; Kirk Caraway of Allen, Summers, Simpson, Lillie & Gresham; Scott Crosby of Burch, Porter & Johnson, PLLC; Liz Landrigan Keough of Martin, Tate, Morrow, & Marston, PC; Barry McWhirter of McWhirter, Wyatt & Elder; Harris Quinn of Williams & Prochaska, PC; Glen Reid of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, LLP; and Linda Seely of Memphis Area Legal Services, Inc.
Section Representatives to the MBA in 2008 will be Elizabeth Collins of Thomason Hendrix Harvey Johnson & Mitchell, PLLC; Sheree Hoffman of Hoffman Law & Mediation Office; and Robert Pinstein of Luckett Pinstein Ridder PC.
Also at the meeting, Sean A. Hunt of Spicer Flynn & Rudstrom, PLLC, was honored with the W.J. Michael Cody Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award by Memphis Area Legal Services, Inc.
Lara Butler of Thomason Hendrix Harvey Johnson & Mitchell, PLLC, was honored with the Sam A. Myar, Jr. Memorial Award as a young attorney who has rendered outstanding personal service to the Memphis & Shelby County legal profession and community. The award is presented annually at the Annual Meeting.
G. Patrick Arnoult of The Bogatin Law Firm, PLC, was honored with the Judge Jerome Turner Lawyer’s Lawyer Award. The award is presented annually to an MBA member who has practiced law for more than 15 years and who during that time, has exemplified the aims and aspirations embodied in the Guidelines for Professional Courtesy and Conduct. In 2000, the award was renamed in honor of Judge Jerome Turner, during whose presidency of the MBA the Guidelines were developed.
2007 President David Cook presented the following President’s Awards: Linda Holmes, Esq. and Bobby Wampler of Wampler & Pierce for co-chairing the Professionalism Committee; Joe Clark of Thomason Hendrix Harvey Johnson & Mitchell, PLLC; Milandria King of the Law Offices of Ricky E. Wilkins; and Lisa LaVigne, Esq. for outstanding pro bono efforts. Judge Jon McCalla, Lang Wiseman, and Judge Loyce Lambert Ryan received President’s Awards for their successful planning of the 2007 Bench Bar Conference in Destin, Florida.
